How long does the observation for the Teaching Assistant standard last?

This assessment will last a total of 2 hours and 15 minutes, with the practical observation lasting a total of 2 hours, followed by a 15-minute question-and-answer session.

The practical observation will last for a total of two hours (+/-10%). This may be split into a maximum of four sessions, each lasting at least 30 minutes. There is flexibility to permit a 10% time extension to allow the apprentice to complete their current work task.

After the last observation has concluded, a 15-minute (+/-10%) question and answer session will take place.

The apprentice must be given a minimum of two weeks notice of the practical observation date.

Version 1.1

The total observation period will last 110 minutes and is comprised of two stages. The observation is 90 minutes, and the questioning session is 20 minutes. The End-Point Assessor may increase the total time of the observation and questioning by 10% to allow the apprentice to complete their task or respond to a question if necessary. No new tasks will be observed, or questions asked after the time limit has been reached.

The apprentice will be given a minimum of two weeks notice of the observation date.
