The EPA Process

What is gateway?

Gateway is the term used to describe the period between the end of an apprentice's training and the beginning of their End-Point Assessment (EPA). EPA cannot begin unless the apprentice passes the gateway stage.

The apprentice, training provider and employer must agree that the apprentice is ready to move to gateway based on their learning and development, and a minimum set of requirements must be met for the End-Point Assessment Organisation (Training Qualifications UK) to accept the apprentice.

These requirements change from standard to standard, but often include proof of English and maths qualifications and a portfolio of evidence. More information on these requirements can be seen in our Apprentice Packs and Standard Specifications.
