Is there a grade cap if a component is failed and requires a resit/retake?

Each apprenticeship standard follows a distinct Assessment Plan which explains how grading for resits and retakes work. In some cases, resit and retake grades are capped at a pass, which means that during a resit or retake the highest grade available is a pass. In other standards, the cap doesn't apply.
