Can learners appeal their Functional Skills final mark?

Yes, learners can appeal their final Functional Skills mark. Before proceeding, please be aware that any scripts within the borderline range have undergone a thorough review process. These borderline scripts (scores within five marks of the pass mark) are marked by an experienced examiner and then second marked by the Chief Examiner to ensure accuracy.

For example, if the pass mark for a Level 1 English Reading paper is 12, any score between 7 and 17 would be second marked. This dual-checking approach provides an additional level of scrutiny for borderline marks across both English and Maths at Levels 1 and 2. If the learner still wishes to appeal, please contact us for further details on the appeals process.
