Observation and professional dialogue

Where does the observation for the Learning and Skills Teacher standard take place and who is involved?

The lesson observation must be of an apprentice completing their usual work, under normal working conditions. Simulation is not permitted. The apprentice should work with a minimum of 5 learners in a group environment.

Following the observed session, the End-Point Assessor and apprentice will conduct a professional dialogue about the observed lesson.

Both the lesson observation and professional dialogue should take place in a quiet room, free from distractions and influence at the apprentice's workplace.

The employer should ensure the necessary tools, equipment and materials are available for the apprentice during the lesson observation and professional dialogue.
