Observation

What should the apprentice prepare ahead of the practical observation for the Children, Young People, and Families Practitioner standard?

Apprentices are required to submit a 2,000-word (+/-10%) written essay seven days before the observation assessment date. This must include:

• the context of the session to be observed

• the aims and objectives of the session

• how this relates to the outcomes for the child or young person.

The written essay will not be formally assessed by the End-Point Assessor but will be used to underpin and strengthen the observation component. It is an integral component of the assessment and submission is mandatory.

The apprentice can submit their essay via email to their allocated End-Point Assessor seven days before the observation
